Make-A-Wish Central & Western North Carolina Is Supported By RBLP

Macie is excited for her treehouse from Make-A-Wish NC

Our #GivingBack program, offering RBLP leadership certifications to nonprofits at no cost, continues to grow and today we’re thrilled to announce our first collaboration with a chapter of the amazing Make-A-Wish Foundation, this one based in Central & Western North Carolina!

Jackson the superhero courtesy of Make-A-WishMake-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. They seek to bring every eligible child’s wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illness. Make-A-Wish Central & Western North Carolina serves 51 counties in North Carolina from Burlington (Alamance County) to the west. The chapter has granted more than 5,300 wishes since its inception in 1985.

The Our Stories section of Make-A-Wish Central & Western NC’s website outline every aspect of the remarkable work they do and the fantastic team behind it. From individual stories of the children, such as Jackson (5, pictured at left) and Joell (8) who wish to be superheroes; to volunteer stories, such as Barbara’s experience bringing a furry friend into the life of young Shanya (pictured below); and testimonials from medical professionals, including oncologist Dr. Jennifer Pope’s insight into the power that wish-granting has to inspire children’s spirits as they battle their illnesses.

Shayna's Make-A-Wish NC puppyMake-A-Wish Central & Western NC has a broad slate of events that assist in fundraising to support their individual wish projects year-round. Among those recently are Blaze Your Own Trail, a completely virtual endurance program in which participants can hike, walk, run, bike, swim or move their way to completing 28.3 total miles; and, coming up in February, The Wish Ball – their signature event featuring a silent auction, a real-time live auction and inspiring stories from local wish families – taking place virtually this year as an inspirational night of giving to directly support the wishes of local children.
