Our mission at Resilience-Building Leader Program (RBLP) is to certify leaders in building and leading resilient teams in the workplace. Since our founding in 2018, we have issued thousands of leader certifications.
Why? Getting the work done can be hard in any organization, and sometimes, it can be really hard. Resilient teams thrive in challenging environments because they can overcome adversity, adapt, and grow together.
Leaders build resilient teams by creating a positive climate, developing cohesion, and providing purpose. Building resilient teams makes team learning possible. Team learning is the foundation of organizational learning and change.
Getting certified is a structured learning and assessment experience that improves leadership abilities. Earning a leader certification will introduce you to new ideas and concepts. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of leader tasks will instill a greater sense of confidence in yourself.

Where do RBLP certified leaders work?
RBLP is our core leader certification. This certification is for managers responsible for one or more team’s morale, teamwork, motivation, and commitment. People who earn this certification can build and lead resilient teams.
Exam prep course required | 1.5-hour oral exam
RBLP-C is our coach certification. This certification is for managers with organizational improvement, innovation, and problem-solving responsibilities. Managers who earn this certification can coach teams through the experiential learning cycle.
Exam prep course required | 2.5-hour oral exam
RBLP-T is our trainer certification. This certification is for senior managers with organizational learning and development (L&D) responsibilities. Senior managers who earn this certification can teach authorized training courses that prepare people for the RBLP series of leader certification exams.
Exam prep course required | 3.5-hour oral exam
Our local partners teach the instructor-led Building and Leading Resilient Teams courses (3, 5, and 7 modules) that prepare you for the RBLP, RBLP-C, and RBLP-T certification exams. The partners below offer online courses with flexible start dates and schedules. Most also offer one-on-one training.

We developed the self-paced, online Leadership Fundamentals Course specifically for college students. This course will make you a better leader and more competitive for internships and jobs.
This course introduces college students to 21 core leadership tasks that everyone entering the workforce should understand. Course topics include Creating a Positive Climate, Developing Cohesion, and Providing Purpose. Audio versions of the lessons and bonus video content are also included.
The course cost is only $145. Complete the course to earn a certificate and digital badge.
The Florence–Muscle Shoals AL metro area, often referred to as “The Shoals,” is a vibrant and historically rich region located in the northwestern part of Alabama. This metro area encompasses Colbert and Lauderdale counties, covering roughly 1,020 square miles with a population of about 148,000 residents. The river’s influence is evident in the area’s thriving music history and outdoor activities, offering residents and visitors alike opportunities for fishing, boating, and riverside leisure. The region is characterized by a gentle mix of rolling hills and fertile plains, providing a picturesque backdrop to the cities and towns within.
The economy of The Shoals is diverse, with strong foundations in manufacturing, healthcare, and music production. Major employers include the North American Lighting and the Wise Alloys aluminum plant, which underscore the region’s industrial capabilities. The healthcare sector is robust, supported by the Helen Keller Hospital and the North Alabama Medical Center, which deliver essential services and are top employers in the area.
Education plays a pivotal role in the metro area, with the University of North Alabama (UNA) located in Florence. UNA offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs and is a major contributor to the cultural and economic vitality of the region. Additionally, Northwest-Shoals Community College provides two-year degrees and technical certifications that align with local workforce needs, supporting ongoing economic development.
Culturally, the Florence–Muscle Shoals area is rich in musical heritage, famously known as the “Hit Recording Capital of the World.” Iconic recording studios like Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals and the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio have attracted some of the biggest names in music and continue to draw new artists. This musical legacy is celebrated annually at the W.C. Handy Music Festival, which showcases a variety of musical genres and performances across the area.
Sports and recreation are also integral to the community’s lifestyle. Local college sports teams, especially UNA’s Lions, play a significant role in community engagement, with football and basketball games serving as popular local events. The area’s golf courses, including the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals, offer some of the finest golf in the state, attracting enthusiasts from across the nation.
Major attractions in the Florence–Muscle Shoals metro area include the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Rosenbaum House, which is open for tours and stands as an architectural gem in Florence. The Alabama Music Hall of Fame in Tuscumbia celebrates the state’s musical giants with exhibits and memorabilia. For nature lovers, the Natchez Trace Parkway, which traverses part of the metro area, offers scenic drives, hiking trails, and historical sites.
